1. Know their Policies
A lot of restaurants now have policies guiding photography or content creation for guests. If you already plan to shoot content, check first. Ensure you read their policies and comply to avoid stories that touch.
2. Pick Less Popular Spots
There are so many cute spaces in Lagos. Sometimes, it’s not about the popularity or spot but how creative you can get with it. Try somewhere less popular, like cafes or outdoor spaces. You’ll probably get better lighting and fewer people in your background.
3. Respect the Space and other Guests
At the end of the day, it’s still a restaurant, not a studio. Take your pictures quickly and quietly. This is not the time to bring a whole studio set up. Nobody came out to watch a full photo session during lunch.
4. Patronize the Restaurant
Don’t show up, take 40 pictures, and order only a N5,000 Chapman. At least order something from the menu, so it looks like you had lunch. And don’t dive straight into taking pictures, enjoy the space and familiarize yourself with the staff.

Sometimes the best place to take pictures is a proper content studio or a public area, like outdoors. There are beaches, art galleries, and loads of other cool spots in Lagos to take your pictures in peace. Why not go there?
Unless it’s a planned shoot or a birthday thing, skip the big crew. One or two friends max—easier to shoot, and less attention. Restaurants are places of business, not just customer service spots. So, we should be more understanding about their rules and regulations.
