Lagos’ premier festival for margaritas, is back for a 3rd edition after a one year break. Scheduled to hold on the 28th of November with the theme, ‘SALT THE RIM’. We had an interesting chit-chat with the founder on the upcoming event.
Can we meet the founder?
My name is Chiyem Wendy Abah. I’m the founder of Sip and Shots, a beverage consulting company that birthed the Lagos Margarita Festival (LMF).
What is Lagos Margarita Festival and what inspired it?
LMF is basically a funfair experience for adults. It’s the perfect place to feel like a kid again but with margaritas. Inspiration came from wanting to showcase all that ‘Sip and Shots’ is about–all services. From making bartenders better professionals to curating beverage activations and ensuring both brands and consumers sip from the same cup. I wanted something that involved not just beverage professionals and was not the typical learning experience.
What were the previous editions like?
They were both a lot of work but also a lot of fun. It’s always nice to see people enjoy something I put together. From pinatas to bouncy castles, drinking games, music performances, I personally had the time of my life.
Were there any challenges for the event/business? Especially with the lockdown.
Of course, but it gave enough time to re-strategize and figure out how to be relevant if such cases arise again.
Who are the brand partners of the event?
This year we have Desperados, Vbank, Monin, Aquafina, 2sure, Q21 Solutions, DSTv to mention a few.
What should guests expect at the Lagos Margarita Fest?
A really good time!
Where and how can we get tickets and will there be on-site sales?
Regular tickets which are 7,000 only are available at the door and online on www.lagosmargaritafest.com but cabanas can be booked via email or phone cheers@lagosmargaritafest.com 08160238440
What’s the vision for LMF in the future?
For LMF to become a tourist attraction and be recreated across the nation.
