Lagos Drink Ninja: Reviewing Cocktails at Ki Bar & Kitchen

We are excited to announce a new feature in collaboration with Lagos Drink Ninja to bring you the best cocktail reviews in Lagos. Ninja will be exploring cocktails in different bars across the city and sharing her experience so that you know what to order when you visit your favourite restaurants. We’ll be kicking off with a review of three cocktails from a newbie restaurant, Ki Bar & Kitchen, an Asian restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos.

1. Pink Ginger
Price: N5500

The first drink I ordered was the Pink Ginger and Ninja loves her gin. LOVES. And this was no different. As the name implies it was a gin and ginger drink. Menu description says sweet and Sour, however, I didn’t really get either. I got a lot of spicy from the ginger and the tang of the gin but nothing further. It’s very different from a cocktail I would have and be satisfied but I adored the fullness of the drink- probably due to the egg whites in the cocktail. The little hearts on the foam were very much my style. I loved the detail and how delicate the hearts looked. My friend, who I went with, wasn’t much of a fan of this drink and stayed away from it. I on the other hand couldn’t get enough of it. So if you’re picky and really not adventurous with your booze, I wouldn’t recommend. But if you’re like Ninja, and have a keep the drinks coming we dey here, vibe. Order it. You’ll love it.

2. Cucumber Elderflowertini
Price: N5000

-Another gin fave. This was an absolutely
refreshing cocktail. Do you know how great your mixing has to be to have a gin-based refreshing cocktail? I couldn’t get enough of this. Infact I went there a few days later and ordered this. It’s almost impossible for you to go wrong with this at Ki Bar & Kitchen. It’s definitely a crowd pleaser, no matter what your taste is in alcohol? The Cucumber Elderflowertini (mouthful of a name) is your drink.

3. Old fashioned
Ninja only had this because her friend ordered it. We all know the Old Fashioned is a basic Whiskey based drink. This was no different. Maybe I’m not a fan of bitters. I imagine 30+ men in trad with impending business meetings would have enjoyed this. Negating my original sentiments, it’s one of the nicest Old Fashioned cocktails I’ve had in Lagos.

The mixologist at Ki Bar & Kitchen sure deserve his flowers! Ninja was very pleased.
The ambience, on the other hand, was a let down hence the rating. It would easily have gotten a 5 star but it didn’t in any way meet my expectations. It felt more like a place I’d order take out or have casual unplanned drinks or convenience dates.

Overall Rating
4/5
