What To Do On Your First Date In Lagos

For most people, the hardest part of meeting someone new is when you start getting mundane questions like,  ‘What’s your favourite colour?’, ‘How many siblings do you have?’, or What’s your favourite food? This phase is popularly known as the “talking stage”.
However, the most nerve-wracking thing for me is deciding what to do when you finally decide to see in person which doesn’t involve going to somebody’s house.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for knowing your favourite colour and all that jazz, but the thought of having that conversation in a restaurant sucks away the joy. There are other fun things to do that would still give you room to have an amazing conversation. I have curated a list of six fun things to do on your first date in Lagos.

Hit Up an Arcade

First on my list is hitting up an Arcade.  Whether you’re showing off your gaming skills or just goofing around, places like Rufus and Bee or Upbeat Recreation Centre have a mix of games that will keep the vibe light and fun.
Plus, who doesn’t love the nostalgia of arcade games and a friendly competition to break the ice? You could hit the food bar afterwards for a quick dinner.

Get Creative with Pottery

If you’re into something more hands-on and creative, try going for a pottery session at places like Pottery by Ablesworth. It’s a great way to break the ice, and you can take home a keepsake from your date. Nothing says bonding like getting your hands dirty together and crafting something sentimental.

Sometimes classic is the way to go. Catch the latest blockbuster at the movies. Lagos is filled with amazing cinemas, like Filmhouse Cinemas or Genesis Cinema. Share some popcorn, laugh at the same scenes, and if you’re lucky, you might even hold hands during the scary parts, or any other cheesing thing you relationship people like to do. If you are looking for a more private setting, you could check out Classic Lagos. It’s a private cinema experience that brings avid film lovers together over Classic Movies, Cocktails & a Vintage Jazz Ambience.

Art Gallery Stroll

For a more cultural experience, attend an exhibition at Nike Art Gallery or Yenwa Gallery. These exhibitions offer the perfect opportunity to admire stunning artworks while sipping on a glass of wine. It’s an ideal setting for meaningful conversations and discovering a shared love for contemporary art.

Whether it’s making your own perfume, painting while enjoying a glass of wine, or baking and painting at the same time, nothing says bonding like getting your hands dirty together.
